Control Your Tongue!

The Give-Up Season series

Control Your Tongue!

As Jesus starts to prepare His disciples for His departure, his disciple Peter decides to rebuke Jesus and gets told! Jesus saw through Peter and spoke to the spirit urging the rude act. How bold, how challenging, to think, or even consider that you can tell Jesus what to do? The impulse to speak rudely without thinking is not uncommon even today.

Have you ever been felt embarrassed by a rash decision or thought yourself one inch tall as a result of a passionately inspired self-inflected nonsense? Most actions of embarrassment can be avoided if we would take the time to consider our actions before we commit. During this season of Lent, take a moment before speaking on a heated situation or making a move that we would require repentance.

Matthew 16: 22-23 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Holy God (Joshua 24:19), how excellent is Thy Name above the earth, and we thank You because You still love us. Because we are non-deserving and unworthy, You thought us worthy of saving; and we give You the upmost praise. We decree and declare blessings with uplifted hands and bended knees, the people who pause at every moment to speak joy of gratefulness; so that, as we submit our flesh to Your Will, we live through the acts we do in Your Name. Now, for Your Kingdom and the Glory of God, we petition with the anointing, the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
