The Fiery Trial - 3
1 Peter 4:12-19
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
What was considered strange is now brought to the forelight as a consideration of rejoicing (Matthew 5:12). Why would we rejoice over strange things; because we are partakers of the sufferings of Christ. Are we only with Jesus for the good things, or will we stand with Him for all things (Acts 5:41)? A primary principle of marriage vows is “for richer or poor, sickness and in health.” In family, we learn to suffer as a family because that’s what we do or suppose to do. Being an heir and joint-heir with Christ is an act of Spirit, God’s Spirit. Will you stand as a partaker of the sufferings of Christ? See Addendum
Peleh Yo’etz, Wonderful Counselor - Isaiah 9:6; we thank You for being the Wonderful Counselor. We praise You for the suffering of Jesus Christ on our behalf. We declare and decree the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who partakers of the sufferings of Christ; so that, the Spirit which bears witness rewards us in the time of judgment. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
