The Fiery Trial - 9

1 Peter 4:12-19

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

This letter from the Apostle Peter indicates the outbreak of persecution in Rome (1 Peter 4:16). There was a movement to persecute the Followers of Christ. The inference of who suffers as a Christian or a follower of Christ is significant because we are not to be ashamed of this humiliation for the cause of Christ (Romans 1:16). The Glory of God is the True benefit of this suffering (Philippians 1:29). It is in this pain that we share as heirs and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-18). True Christians make the Will of God the priority of their lives, not the desires and lust of their hearts (Galatians 5:16, 1 John 2:16). Will you address the Will of God or the lust and desires of your heart?

Jehovah Ori, The LORD My Light - Psalm 27:1; we thank You for being the Lord my light. We praise You for the revelation of what Christians suffer for, the cause of Christ. We declare and decree the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who are not ashamed of the burden of Christ; so that, the Glory of God will be exalted. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
