Kuumba: Creativity

Kwanzaa series (Special Edition) #6

Kuumba: Creativity

Represented by the third red candle on the Kinara, to the left of Umoja, symbolizes the illumination of the principle of Creativity.

The sixth of the seven principles is Creativity spoken in Swahili- Kuumba. The principle of Creativity is to individually embrace, the practice of making a resolution with an engagement of imagination specifically, to address the common needs of the many. In this principle, we recognize that when He fills us with His Spirit He fills us with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all types of cunning workmanship, so that we who have come together in spirit of Christ, work as family in the community of Faith.

Exodus 35:30-33 And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.

Almighty God, we lift up thanks for the principle of creativity, it nourishes our souls. We praise You for the filling of Your Spirit. We declare and decree blessings for wisdom, understanding, knowledge and different types of workmanship, so that we as members of this body can perform cunning works, in gold, silver, brass and cutting stones, carving wood and whatever You would put our hands too do. This we pray with an anointing in the name of Jesus. Amen.
