The Give-Up Season series
Cost Of The Cross
Matthew records Jesus speaking to His disciples; in this "new work," He gave a solemn proclamation to those who had been risking life, limb, and home for three years, and now Jesus presents this new wrinkle, denial. He's asking for self-denial, take up the cross, and follow Him. We have been given the world, forgiven of our sins, and the opportunity to have eternal life, all we have to do is deny ourselves and follow Him. The season of Lent is about making a sacrifice to exemplify what He did for us, all of us. We must deny ourselves for the sake of the Kingdom.
Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
The Living God (Joshua 3:10), who has given us the vision to follow You and to deny ourselves of our earthly pleasures and we say thank You. For the day on the cross and the days in the grave and the pain of the crucifixion, we offer our eternal praise. We declare and decree showers of blessing upon all who deny themselves, take up the cross, and follow after Christ so that all we do will benefit the Kingdom of God. For the sake of the Kingdom, we pray, with anointing in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen. Now, for Your Kingdom and the Glory of God, we petition with the anointing, the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
