Mis-Directed Worship
In a time of famine, there is this recording of Jesus receiving worship from Mary by way of washing Jesus' feet. It was custom to honor guests in your house by washing their feet. Still, to use an ointment, a very expense ointment was highly unusual, and it was not overlooked by His disciples, especially one who thought himself above His Rabbi. When the Spirit of God moves you to do something unique, there is always a blessing behind it; one is honor in obedience; the second is the worth of sacrifice, and a third is hearing God when He speaks to you. Will you make a sacrifice today?
John 12:3-6
Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
The God who Receives my Sacrifice (Genesis 8:21), we come with bowed heads and open hearts to thank You for the clarity of the Word. We begin with jubilation and raised arms with our praise and submission. We declare and decree blessings for the unity of the saints who worship You in spirit and truth; so that, by Your grace, we shall have everlasting life and truth in our worship. Now, for Your Kingdom and the Glory of God, we petition with the anointing, the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
